Your eyebrows communicate everything from surprise and excitement to anger and frustration. Drooping or sagging brows can make your eye area look tired and older. A brow lift restores the brows to their natural position for a youthful, rejuvenated appearance. For some people, it even leads to improved vision.
What is a Brow Lift?
Sagging brows are also known as eyebrow ptosis. They often occur when the muscles that control the eyebrows become weaker. As a result, your brows can droop down over the eyes, giving them a “hooded” appearance. This excess skin can even obstruct your vision, making a brow lift or eyebrow ptosis repair more than a cosmetic procedure.
How Does a Brow Lift Work?
A brow lift uses hidden incisions, often within the hairline in female patients or within the eyebrow in male patients, to let your surgeon lift the eyebrow and improve the appearance of the brow arch. This correction can produce dramatic improvements in the appearance of your eye area. It also removes skin that hangs over the eyes and obstructs your vision. Your surgeon will develop a customized treatment plan to achieve the results you want during your procedure.
Those with significant eyelid drooping may benefit from a blepharoplasty or eyelid lift. Sagging eyelids may result when the eyelid skin loses its elasticity and becomes redundant. This will be discussed during your consultation.
What are the Benefits of a Brow Lift?
A brow lift can provide aesthetic improvements, but it has other benefits as well.
If eyebrow ptosis has caused sagging skin to block part of your vision, a brow lift will restore your normal range. Treatment can improve your peripheral and upward vision.
More Youthful Appearance
Sagging brows can give your eyes a hooded appearance and make you look tired. A brow lift raises the brows to a more youthful position, so you look younger, more alert, and refreshed. The entire eye area looks rejuvenated and brighter.
You can expect results from your brow lift to last for many years. You can help your results last longer by using quality skincare products and protecting yourself from the sun.

What is Recovery Like After a Brow Lift?
You will have some bruising and swelling after surgery. A cold compress throughout the day and sleeping elevated for the first few days following your surgery will help minimize these. They will mostly fade away within a week. Your surgeon will provide you with instructions on how to care for your incisions. Many people can return to work within a week, but this will depend on your surgeon’s assessment.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
If you have eyebrow ptosis or sagging eyebrows, you may be a good candidate for a brow lift. Ideal candidates are in good health and have reasonable expectations. Only a consultation can determine whether a brow lift is a good choice for you.
